Here at Seibertron.com, we get all manner of strange news and rumour reports passed to us. Today we received a news item that's quite strange indeed.

This item was forwarded to us attached to an invalid e-mail address, and allegedly contains a report from Yahoo! News. A link to the 'real' news story was given to us, but the link doesn't work - and unsurprisingly the story is nowhere to be found on the site.

Some of the information is incredibly suspect too. For example, according to the Internet Movie Database, the 'veteran actor' Ray MacDonald has only appeared in two Thai movies in his entire life......

So without further ado, here's the news story, provided simply for your entertainment. Remember people, take all of this with a truck full of salt! Do not take this article as fact ... it is definitely fiction.

The Transformers Get a Movie Makeover

November 16, 2004, 1:40 AM EST

By CHRISTY LEMIRE, AP Entertainment Writer

LOS ANGELES -- The Transformers, those familiar shape-changing robot toys from the 1980's, are preparing for their first live-action feature film. The highly anticipated movie is scheduled for a theatrical release of summer 2006, marking the Transformers' first return to the silver screen in almost two decades.

While Hasbro Properties Group retains creative control over the license, they have granted producers Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto a wide berth in presenting their vision of the popular robots in disguise. "The movie is going to break lots of new ground, in terms of what we can do with the characters and settings," says DeSanto. "We definitely plan on keeping true to the original vision of TRANSFORMERS while making it bigger, better, and more action packed than ever before."

Voice casting has begun for the stars of the film, which include Optimus Prime, commander of the Autobots who transforms into a tractor trailer truck, and his arch-enemy Megatron, who leads the Decepticons. The natural choices for the lead roles would be Garry Chalk and David Kaye, who have lent their voices to the characters in three separate Transformers series, and currently perform the roles on the televised TRANSFORMERS ARMADA and TRANSFORMERS ENERGON.

Principal casting has also begun for the human characters, who will co-star alongside the digitally-animated robots.

"The potential to promote TRANSFORMERS in a live action setting is enormous," explains Jane Ritson-Parsons, president of Hasbro Properties Group. "Our human actors will have a real synergy with the TRANSFORMERS that was never possible before."

Tony Michael Donnelley plays Spike, a human who befriends the Autobots and plays a key role in their adaptation to their new Earth vehicle forms. Benjamin Hendrickson plays the role of Sparkplug, father to Spike and a skilled mechanic--just the sort of friend an army of mechanical beings might need. Jamie Dudney plays Carly, girlfriend to Spike.

The Autobots aren't the only ones who will be making friends on Earth, however. Also joining the cast is veteran actor Ray MacDonald, who plays the malevolent scientist Doctor Arkeville.

A rumor has come my way about the movie that people may be interested to hear. A while back Producer of the upcoming movie, Don Murphy had already said that he would love to have Jonathan Mostow to take a seat at the director's chair for this one. From this the rumor got started that he might get the part. Later it was announced that no director had been assigned for the movie yet.

A source of mine now told me that Jonathan Mostow has been pointed out as being the new director for an unknown movie called Real Steel! According to the rumor talks have also started to bring in writer Jeremy Leven (writer and screenwriter of movies like Don Juan DeMarco and Crazy as Hell), to be part of the team as story editor. The story in Real Steel is supposed to be about 2,000 pound robots that that battle each other in a boxing competition.

However the movie is produced by Don Murphy's Angry Films and distribution is done by Dreamworks SKG. According to my source, this is no co-incidence. According to him Real Steel is actually a fake name for what is actually the Transformers movie!

There are no basis to believe this is in fact true. If Real Steel is in fact a real movie to be made, this is all just a co-incidence. But I do have to admit that Don Murphy, Dreamworks and a story about 2,000 pound robots fighting each other are alot of facts to not take this rumor under serious consideration.

A rumour has reached us here at Seibertron.com that The Cartoon Network, keen to resolve some of the quality issues that plagued Armada and are currently plaguing Energon, will be overseeing the dubbing of the upcoming animation Cybertron themselves! If this turns out to be true, it can only lead to an improvement on the previous series...can't it?

P.Prime of 2005 has pictures of G1 spychangers. "Why," you ask, "should I care? K-B usually still has a whole crapload of 'em. They've been out for months!"

"These," I respond, "are different."

It seems that G1 spychangers are not part of the Universe Line, instead of "Transformers" as they were initial packaged under.

And they're packaged in robot mode.

And they use really bizarre artwork. Most use the Heroes of Cybertron art (true to G1), but Silverstreak uses Alt. Silverstreak's art, and Prowl uses Energon Prowl's!

Take a look here:

Card Fronts, in robot mode
Prime's Card Back
Card backs of the others, focusing on the character art.

No word if these will be store exclusives or not.

It seems that RM-21, slated for a January release, is going to be Beast Convoy, with a bonus DVD, according to this page at HobbyLinkJapan. No word yet on the content of the DVD, nor if the figure will feature any different paint apps than the standard release, RM-11, in the same way RM-01 and RM-10 differed. Could the DVD possibly feature a 10th anniversary look at Beast Wars? We'll keep you posted on this.

Blitzwing is TFC #17?

A new rumor this morning has began circulating. According to Digital Toys is stating that Soundblaster will be TFC #18, not #17. TFC #17 is supposedly Blitzwing instead.

Along with this rumor is the other bit of information that Predaking will in fact be a stand alone reissue, most likely being part of the original reissue line that started in 2000 before the TFC (Transformers Collection) book style series in 2002.

Fact or fiction? You decide!

This rumor / news was originally posted at Tformers.com earlier this morning and was reported on SEIBERTRON.com on the Energon Pub by coreshair.

This post over at Zinc Panic lends just a little more credence to the rumors that the upcoming Predaking reissue will feature at least part of the original die-cast. It's unclear if the figures will retain all original die-cast locations, right now, though.

Stay tuned for more info!

An interesting little rumour this. Apparently, although the upcoming Galaxy Force TV series is due to be set in an all-new continuity, the actual storyline may be a little familiar, as it's going to be a re-telling of Micron Legend/Armada! Word has it that this is mostly due to the influence of GONZO, who didn't like the way that the last two series worked out......

It looks like there's even one more cool thing about RM Star Saber.

As evidenced by this image, it seems like there's a fully transformable downsized Saber figure included.

We'll have more details as soon as RM Star Saber is released.

In the mean time, keep your Star Saber cravings satisfied by checking out SEIBERTRON.com's own Star Saber, Saber, and Yukio galleries.
