I agree with Glyph. That statement is very patronizing toward a sizeable minority of the fanbase.

thats true. i mean welker as megatron again is cool, but look at movietron. does he look like he would sound like welker?

Not at all. Welker's Megatron sounds like a sissy. The movie Megatron drips pure evil and menace. The voice actor chosen for him needs to reflect that.

Personally? I'd love to see Nimoy do it.

I would never consider Franks G1 Megs sounding like a sissy

Startscream sounds like a sissy but Megs?? Hell no

I agree also. Although in Hotrod defence, he is only paraphrasing Don Murphy who has made the same erroneous statement over and over again in the hope that people will just take it as fact. Seems it worked on hotrod! :P

Funny i feel the complete opposite way. I couldn't care less about the movie at the moment, I just want an official statement about Heroes.

Also why do you Americans say "could care less" when you mean "Couldn't care less"? :P

I dont understand this. We get the Prime WE want but not the Megatron that WE want. WE are the fans and WE are a fair chunk of the people that will go see this movie. This really must not be a film for the fans if they dont listen to what WE would like to see.

What happened to "The customer is always right"?

It should be pretty clear from what we have seen and heard so far that this movie is no aimed at the fans. A few things like Peter Cullen have been thrown in as an attempt to appease the fans but WE are not their major concern. It's aimed at a much broader audience than us, it's been pitched with the broadest appeal possible to ensure maximum box office profits.

Not something I agree with or feel is entirely necessary but that what they have chosen to do. Only time will tell if they have achieved the right balance between the source material and mass Hollywood appeal. Personally I think they may have already gone too far.

Just cling to the hope that they've had a heavy redrafting process and that the script will come out as something engaging and insightful.

As for Welker, I'm a big fan of his and thus really wanted to hear him in this movie, but I don't think he necessarily has to be Megatron.

:-(
Would have luved to have Welker to the voice Of Megatron. This a real disappointment after the signing of Cullen. Ya think Welker would have beena shoe-in right? Try to have some connection to the old cartoon most of us grew up with while appealing to a wide audience(which is the main reason why Cullen was hired).
I'll hold judgement til I see the movie, in theaters of course. If it does well, wether its great or not, it will show that the popularity of Transformers is still out there so who knows where that may lead. So I gotta support it.

is there any news on this cartoon no disrespect but I hope it doesn't pan towards that Ridiculous Sho-jo Anime BS of even worse american attempting to recreate Ridiculous Sho-jo Anime BS. After that terrible GIjoe Sigma six hopefully America can get back to the good ole day's of animation and infuse some good story lines.

The good old days are gone and they're not coming back. That's what makes them the good old days. This applies no matter what franchise or industry you're talking about.

Personally, I'm hoping for good new days. Perhaps they'll be inspired by the best bits of the good old days (you know, the bits people remember fondly whilst forgetting about all the really crappy bits), and hopefully they'll incorporate the best bits of the current days. If they can do both of those, they'll be better days.

Great post Glyph!! :D
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
No, I am not friendly online or in real life.

Do you mean shounen? One Piece and Naruto are shounen. Shoujo is Glass Mask and Paradise Kiss. No foul or anything; "GI Joe as shoujo" just gives me a hilarious yet soul-scarring mental video of Cover Girl disguising herself as a man to inflitrate the Dreadnoks and accidentally falling in love with Zartan.

[There's a "plot of the upcoming GI Joe live-action feature film" joke in there, but I'm too lazy to look for it.]
